Can you believe that four years ago I was marrying my best friend? I think at the time we were so neck deep in candelabras, pink taffeta, and bow-ties that we didn’t realize the amazing adventure that was ahead of us! We still ask each other “Do you feel married yet?” I’m not sure what feeling we’re waiting for but the newness and excitement of our marriage has yet to wear off.
Living in the midwest for 3 years at times felt like a diet from mountains so since we have been back in Virginia we find ourselves in awe of the incredible Appalachian mountains that surround us on all four sides! To celebrate our anniversary I planned a surprise trip for Brooks a few days early. We woke up, hopped on the motorcycle and headed south on the Blue Ridge Parkway (just 10 minutes from my house!). The overlooks were incredible!
At the end of the road was a premier Virginia winery where some of the best wine in Virginia is made: The Chateau Morrisette. We were able to spend the afternoon taking a tour, tasting wine, and having a wonderful lunch on the porch overlooking the mountains!
It was nice to be able to spend the day together celebrating the gracious gifts God has given us over the past 4 years as we look longingly into the future to see what else he has in store for us.
Tomorrow we will load up in the car for our 16 day trip down the East coast to spend time at Ridge Haven during MTW’s re-entry week and MTW conference and then down to Atlanta for readiness evaluation. We would love your prayers for our time with missionary kids and our time with MTW. We look forward to updating you when we return!
