We’re headed to Ridge Haven tomorrow until Saturday, July 16th. Mission to the World (MTW) will put on a week long conference for the missionary families who are stateside on home mission assignment (visiting supporting churches and raising more support to go back). It’s supposed to be a time of rest, refreshment, and encouragement for missionary families, and Riva and I have been asked to speak to the junior and senior high students. Because we know you guys love us, we’ve got some specific things you can be praying about. Please pray that God will encourage and challenge the students with his Word, and that they’ll fall more deeply in love with Jesus because of our time together. Please also pray for our one-on-one time with students, and for Eric Larsen (our boss), as he facilitates the camp experience. Another teammate, Ruthanne Burch is doing something similar in New York, so you can be praying for her as well.
The following week, July 18-22, we’ll attend MTW’s Readiness Evaluation in Atlanta, where they’ll tell us what all we need to do before we head to Nagoya. Since living and working cross-culturally can be very taxing, MTW assesses her long-term missionaries psychologically, spiritually, emotionally, and relationally before they go on the field. If we look like we’re in good shape, we’ll be able to really kick our support raising efforts into full gear once we return. Please pray that we’ll just be ourselves so that MTW can get an accurate idea of who we are and what we need to work on. Finally, please pray that through both of these experiences God’s call will be confirmed and that our love for this ministry will grow.
We love you guys and can’t wait to tell you all about it when we return!
