Japan pictures!

Hi Mom.  Sorry I haven’t called you yet.  Oh, and hello everyone else!  We’re back.

Our God is worthy of all of our praise!  We weren’t sure if he knew what he was doing in calling us to Japan, but after this trip, we feel more confident in his call than ever before.

For one, Japan is home to some incredible food!

Lunch with Joe Kim, one of our teammates, on the 13th floor of Nagoya Station.
this is the view from the restaurant

 The Japanese have incredible toilets.

the wonder toilet… complete with sink and automated tushy cleaning functions. Some of them even make flushing noises for you in case you are having trouble…

And the architecture is beautiful!

Oh yeah, and the people are incredible, too!

we stayed with the very kind and hospitable Manju family for a couple of days. 6 kids!

Oba Sensei (the pastor of Kita Yokkaichi Church) and his family showed us around and let us shower at their house.

The people at Kita Yokkaichi allowed us to stay in their church for 10 days and prepared some amazing food.

Chi-chi Oba.  How cute is he?

We prepared for the opening of our new ministry building with our team by arranging (and eating) fruit trays

There is so much beauty in Japanese culture.  But, there is also so much brokenness.  Superstition hangs heavy in the air.  People visit shrines like the one below where they say prayers, give money, and purchase charms in the hope that they’ll have a successful business and their kids will get into a good college.

people purchase these strips of paper, write wishes on them, and then tie them up here for good luck

But, we had the opportunity to join the Japanese church in shining the light of Jesus.

We also got to spend some time with some of the missionary kids that we’ll be ministering to as well.  Unfortunately, we didn’t take any pictures… classic Cains.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and financial support.  We are so thankful that we’ve got a whole team of people back here in the US praying for and giving toward the advancement of God’s kingdom in the nation of Japan.  If you would like to join us, there are a few things you can do:

1. Visit our “partner with us” page above to begin giving toward the glory of God in Japan.

2. Connect us with the missions committee at your church.  We’d love to share about what God is doing and invite others to join us.

3. Let us know when you’re available to talk.  We’d love to tell you more about this ministry.
