When you realize that you are reciting the Delta flight safety instructions along with the airline stewardess it becomes very apparent that you are flying a LOT. Well we have. But God has been so gracious to us through all of our travels! We were able to take a trip to Saint Louis a few weeks ago to catch up with some old friends, attend a wedding, and share about our plans for ministry in Japan. It was so wonderful to worship at Kirk of the Hills again. We were able to speak during the Sunday school hour, small group time, worship service, and host a dessert where we could share more about our ministry.
From Saint Louis we went to New York City to spend Thanksgiving with Brooks’s family. Brooks’s uncle hosted all 24 of us. They even had a table in their house where we could all dine together for the incredible Thanksgiving dinner!
Brooks’s dad and his 4 siblings grew up in Japan as missionary kids themselves. It is always fun to sit around with them hearing their stories of growing up on the mission field. We enjoyed spending time together in the house and running all over the city during one of the busiest times of the year!
We were also able to catch up with 2 great friends this month: Ali and Chad Williamson. Ali has been a dear friend of Riva’s since college and an exceptional photographer (check out her work!). She agreed to shoot our prayer card pictures – so we met halfway between Charlottesville and Roanoke for dinner and a photo shoot. Keep your eye out for our prayer cards coming soon!
Ali and Chad are such a refreshing couple to be around. They love the Lord and love each other so deeply.
Most recently our travels took us to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri where we had our first ever GYFM retreat. We were able to spend 3 days with our 15 member Global Youth and Family Ministries team. We enjoyed fellowship, amazing food, worship, prayer, and vision casting. We were hosted by a wonderful and generous couple from St. Louis and the Larsen family organized every detail of the retreat (down to the personalized GYFM gum, tissues, and water bottles that we received upon arrival). We were so encouraged by this time with our team, and are SO excited to join them as we serve the next generation of youth across the world!
Thanks so much for all of your prayers and support! We’re on the ride of our lives and can’t wait to see where God takes us next.
