Coming, Going, Staying.

I cannot express to you how good it feels to have now been to our church three weeks in a row.  Today was only the 6th time we’ve worshipped at Christ the King since January.  Don’t get me wrong – we are so thankful for the many incredible experiences that we’ve had over the last year.  It’s hard to believe that this time last year, we were visiting Nagoya for the first time and crazy to think that we’ve been to 4 different countries in just the last 12 months.  We’re so thankful for the year God has given us!  But, we are also deeply thankful for the opportunity to slow down, settle in, serve our church, be fed from the word, and fully engage the people that the Lord has placed around us.  And yet, it’s a struggle.

It’s a struggle to be still, listen, and follow the Lord as he leads us to the supporters he has prepared for us.  It was much easier to rush all over the place doing all kinds of things because it gave us all kinds of things to tell our supporters about.  It made it look like we were really good at support raising and it made us feel like we were doing it.  It’s hard to spend more time praying and just being with people.  It’s hard to come to the end of our network and have to admit that we need God’s help to find new contacts.  But it’s also super rewarding!  We’re more encouraged than we’ve been in a long time.  We’ve already seen him bring six new supporters in the last 2 weeks and we’re excited about many other appointments that we’ve set up.  We’re also more spiritually healthy than we’ve been in a long time.  Through sermon prep and regular time in the word, God is working on my heart and teaching me more about what generosity truly is.

As we begin to stay put, we think of those in the CBI family who are beginning to come and go.  Below are videos of a team member leaving Japan and two new ones coming.  God continues to provide people to minister at CBI, but the goodbyes are painful and the transitions can be tough.  Please pray for the Lord to sustain our team, provide for them, unite them, and use them.  And pray that the Lord will allow us to join them by January!

Saying goodbye to Kenny…

…Saying hello to the Rayls!

  1. Your Dad and I are praying for God to give you both a true army of prayer warriors as your financial and spiritual support as you follow God into His ministry.
