Hey friends, this is just a little update to say “thank you” for praying!
We asked you to pray that paperwork would go through smoothly and it did. We got our visas without a hitch and bought plane tickets for May 13!
We asked you to pray for a pet-friendly apartment, and though we haven’t signed anything, it looks like we’ve got one!
We asked you to pray for our remaining funds to come in and we’ve had at least 3 new families join our support team in the last week. We’ve still got more to go, but at this point, our anxiety about raising funds has turned to awe and praise for how far the Lord has brought us. Thanks for praying!
After we bought our tickets, my aunt and uncle (who both grew up as MKs in Japan) presented us with a congratulatory balloon tied to a tin of spam. Strange gift?
My aunt remembers a time when my grandfather asked her to go through her bag that she was taking to Japan and fill the remaining nooks and crannies with Spam, so they would have food to eat upon arrival. Well, we’re not packing our bags with Spam to EAT, but I think we will take this little tin with us just to remind us how good we have it as missionaries in today’s world. Facebook. Skype. A plane instead of a 2 week boat ride. On days when we are feeling sorry for ourselves because of all the “sacrifices” we’ve made, this little tin of spam will serve as a reminder of those (like my grandparents) who have gone before us and the work they did to scatter the seeds of the gospel across Japan.
