Yup, we’re still waiting. Everything appears to be fine, it’s just that Baby Cain’s not very punctual (I think she gets that from her mother). So in order to occupy our minds, we’ve been busy with all kinds of other stuff.
Martha (Riva’s mom) got here on Nov. 15th, and we put her right to work. In the same day, she spoke to a Japanese women’s bible study group AND led a seminar for female missionaries on “how to live a balanced life.” She’s been doing dishes, cleaning, organizing baby stuff, and keeping us laughing. Needless to say, we’re super thankful she’s here!
The day after she got in, a new teammate arrived to serve with us here at CBI! Also, a dear friend of GYFM, Matt King, came for a short vision trip. It was fun to spend time with him, show him around a bit, and dream about what it could look like to serve together in Japan. He returned home yesterday, but please pray for us and for him as we try to discern the Lord’s best.
The day after Matt came in, Riva and I left for a 1 day CBI Team retreat. It was so fun to be together in a casual setting, thinking back on all God’s been doing and marveling at how he is growing our team.
And if that wasn’t enough, our boss Dr. Eric Larsen flew in to teach a course on the “theology of next gen. ministry.” It was fun to spend time with him, have him in our home, eat lots of Japanese food, and hear him talk about the way God grows his kingdom – One generation telling the next about Jesus (Ps. 145:4).
Eric and Matt both returned to the States last night. And now we wait…
